Like many artists, I have loved drawing and mark making since childhood. However, I was fortunate to have practiced medicine as an Emergency physician for many years. Yet in spite of career and raising a family, I’ve always been sketching and remained curious about making things. In 2015 I began keeping a sketch diary, recording visual snapshots of my daily life in ink and watercolor wash. In spring of 2016, I painted a 12 x 9 foot mural for the school play. The overwhelmingly positive response led to a commissioned painting which launched my journey into fine art painting. By October of 2016 I began painting nearly every day, and with some encouragement and unexpected recognition, I became emboldened to call myself, “Artist.” I love the texture, thickness and endless possibilities of oil paint; thus oil is my first medium. Yet, to maintain a daily practice of painting, I carry around a sketchbook and water media (pen, watercolor, casein and gouache.) My subjects are places and people that capture my eye, I find inspiration everywhere, especially where I live in the Portland metro area. While I am primarily interested in landscape, I also paint small still life artworks and portrait commissions. Please see my complete portfolio and information on commissions on my webpage. My newest work is often published immediately on Facebook and Instagram.
