John and Tina Hospers

As a husband and wife team, our ideas, derived and inspired by nature and some whimsical are sketched on paper, then transferred to computer for the images to be put together harmoniously. We discuss stain colors for the finished work and create an image of the finished work. This work is disassembled on the computer for each piece to be properly cut and or etched on pre-hand sanded and stained wood, per our color decisions. The assembled product is glued with spacers to create the 3D effect (specific to our shadow boxes) and the frame is handmade, waxed and lacquered for a lasting finish. Wood used in our art can range from fine hardwoods (including Cherry, Oak, Mahogany, Alder) to European Baltic Birch Plywood. The pieces are then reassembled with wood spacers to create our 3D effect and glued into place and framed.
