Robert Schlegel (1947 – 2021)

A prolific sketcher, seldom without a pad and paper on which to interpret my surroundings, drawing provides the foundation for my work. Although subject matter plays a part in these sketches, it is the later study of composition that forms the basis for paintings, drawings and prints. Color relationships, shape, texture and line all contribute to the development of the completed work.

These same fundamentals are applied to sculptured assemblages as well. Cardboard, paper, cement, wire, string, nails and miscellaneous found materials are incorporated into the creation of these pieces.
