Liz Walker

Liz Walker is an acrylic marbling artist who works and teaches in the Portland area, where she’s lived since 1999. Although Liz began painting in watercolors in 1990, she discovered acrylic marbling in 2006 and now prefers working in that medium. Liz uses acrylic marbling as an integral part of her painting technique. She seeks out unusual patterns and color combinations that are pleasing to the eye, and imposes her subject matter (using acrylic paint and line work) onto the patterned paper (or canvas). What lies beneath the painting is the mysterious marbled pattern—only a fraction of which can be seen. Abstracted figures are her favorite subject matter, but she also enjoys painting birds, fish, pears, and landscapes. Liz grew up in San Antonio, TX where she received B.A. in Art from Trinity University. She teaches marbling workshops at Sitka Center for Art & Ecology, Multnomah Art Center, and Art in the Mountains.
