Brent Haugen
We live in an artistic world full of lines, shapes, textures, tones, colors, emotions, and energies (ie “influences”). For the art I create comes from a series of different planes of physicality and spirituality. I enable my hands guide the art medium while channeling environmental influences of the outside world and internal emotions and energy to transform a canvas into original artwork.
Currently the medium I am working with is alcohol ink. I love the organic nature of this medium to allow gravity, layering, and creativity to inspire the blank space to tell a meaningful story of color, texture, and tone. Pairing these creations with reclaimed or recycled frames establishes a past for the piece and better defines the present for the viewer.
As an artist, I am influenced heavily by nature, textures, colors, spiritual energy, and the lineage of artistic talent within my own family. My grandpa (deceased) has been an inspiration with my process as he used generic cereal boxes as his canvas to create wildlife watercolors. His paintings had an ease and energetic passion to each brush stroke. I exercise the same technique with each and every one of my pieces.
Overall, I am grateful and humble to have been born with the ability to create beauty and emotion through art. Please enjoy my creations. I hope they speak to you in a meaningful way.
