Brooke Walker-Knoblich
I am an oil painter. I knew this from the very first brushstroke of buttery pigment. Everything about this medium speaks to me. I love the smell of linseed oil and how it suspends color in a rich glisten. Oil paint’s range of application (from thick impastos to transparent glazes) is endlessly exciting; its slow dry-time keeps my creative process open and flexible. My original oil paintings merge classical realism techniques with a love for alla prima brushwork and contemporary colors. I paint what I know: the people, places, and things that inspire deeper examinations. I am interested in art that tells a subtle story and captures real-life encounters.
