Dee Vadnais

I am a landscape painter with a background in sculpture and printmaking. I also have experience as a mechanical draftsperson in a paper mill, and as a residential designer. My work consists of images that are made on site, primarily, with new work inspired by those notes and results. I am interested in drawing, and use it as an element in my work, as well as a basis for printmaking (mono prints, lithography, lino cuts.) My main media are acrylics, watercolor, charcoal, pencil, ink. I work on canvas, board, and paper. My interest in landscape imagery is in capturing an aspect of place; the day, the weather, rocks, plants, forms, movement, people. I think of place as something other than a scenic view, or representational accuracy. I am interested in artists who show the excitement of being in a place by their reaction to it. John Marin, Dave McCosh, Nelson Sandgren, Mark Clarke, Bets Cole, Susan Stuart, are some of my influences.
