Don Hudgins

The imagery in my printmaking, is influenced and to some degree, inspired by challenges, obstacles and obstructions in 21st century life. With a goal of hiding challenging ideas in plain sight, my imagery is sometimes appropriated from popular culture and is simultaneously personal, political and cultural.

Each print is a distinct work of art. Some prints involve incorporating multiple images on a single sheet of paper as a single work of art with the goal of creating tension, conceptual interplay and interconnectivity. All imagery is hand printed using water based inks and acrylic paints. Backgrounds are often created with acrylic paint utilizing masks to create a stable and distinct surface for overprinting. Details and gaps are hand touched with brushes.
