I have a deep appreciation for at least some aspects of almost all genres of painting. I employ elements of each in my own work. I strive to harmonize those disparate influences in that work. My paintings are produced by utilizing various tools to create, recreate or un-create ideas upon whichever foundation is appropriate.

Deep down I can be fairly pessimistic. I create beauty and safe spaces in a world I don’t feel safe in. How it manifests itself in my work is unconscious and still a mystery to me. Each painting is inspired by, grounded in, and intended to be a continuation of the tradition that art is aesthetically pleasing no matter what the message may or may not be.

My hope is to aspire people to be better human beings. I paint with dynamic colors and textures to harmonize the canvas into a feeling that best portrays this value. As far as my own art is concerned, I am interested in representing certain individuals who have often reached great heights of artistic expression, worked in social justice; often by forging their own paths through uncharted territory in the face of great adversity or with very little support. At times I create pictures that contain some degree of a message, but whether that message is obvious or opaque is not the necessarily the point. First and foremost, I aspire to create art that is beautiful.
